Rhian Adams
Newport Mind Family Wellbeing & Resilience Worker
Wales
I am a Family Wellbeing and Resilience practitioner working in Newport, Wales for Families First and Newport Mind.
With a background in Criminology, youth work, and supporting families dealing with domestic abuse, I now utilise my experience, resilience theory, and a family based approach, to increase the resilience to mental health difficulties of those I work with.
In conjunction with Brighton University, my colleagues and I are involved in community of practice research with families, young people and schools and has developed a family resilience framework.
My current research aims to develop a schools based approach to resilience, utilising communities of practice made up of parents, pupils and teachers in order to increase the mental wellbeing of young people as well as staff, in an educational context.
