Founder and Director
Michael Ungar, Ph.D., is a Family Therapist and Professor of Social Work at Dalhousie
University where he holds a national Research Chair in Child, Family and Community
Resilience. His research on resilience around the world and across cultures has made him one of
the best-known scholars in the field. He the author of 17 books for parents, educators, mental
health professionals, and employers, including his most recent work Change Your World: The
Science of Resilience and the True Path to Success, a book for adults experiencing stress at work
and at home, and Multisystemic Resilience: Adaptation and Transformation in Contexts of
Change, an edited volume covering new research on resilience from a dozen disciplines. Dr.
Ungar’s ground-breaking work is recognized by numerous Fortune 500 corporations and NGOs,
as well as thought leaders such as the Boston Consulting Group and Canvas8, who have
integrated Dr. Ungar’s work into their human resources policies and social responsibility
strategies. Dr. Ungar’s presentations emphasizes how to use the theory of resilience to increase
