Working as a part time volunteer with children in the informal settlements of Kibera made me gather an impression that majority of adults tend to idealize childhood as a carefree time, but childhood in itself offers no shield against hurts and challenges encountered in daily life. Children can be asked to deal with problems ranging from adapting to a new classroom, making new friends, solving age appropriate problems in school or dealing with questions about faith in God. My experience stirred in me a passion to be present to children, to mentor, counsel and support them to develop the ability to thrive despite environmental and developmental challenges. My Education background include a master’s degree in Child Development from Daystar University and a graduate degree in Computer Science from Kenyatta University.
Long term vision is to work together with teachers and families to realize transformative learning and holistic development of children.
